WELCOME TO “RODGEMONTS”.
Rodgemonts nestles in peaceful seclusion within a triangular 'island' of fields and our own 9 acre woodland, bordered by typical Devon winding lanes within a mile or so of Chulmleigh.
The house, originally two cottages, is at least three hundred years old and of traditional stone and cob construction under a thatched roof. A cattle grid marks the entrance to Rodgemonts 'Island' and the drive leading down to the house has wide and open views of the hills folding down to the Little Dart valley where the river winds its way through the countryside.
Clear nights give us inspiring star-filled skies.
We take great pleasure in welcoming our guests to what we feel is a rather special place and in giving them a relaxed and enjoyable time with us.
THE ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is provided in The Barn which, being separate from the house, offers real privacy for guests, enabling them to come and go as they please.
Built of cob and stone with a thatched roof and probably of seventeenth century origin, it has been partially and sympathetically converted to provide comfortable accommodation with a balcony overlooking fields and hills.
The double room with arched windows looking out across orchard, garden and woods has its own delightful small sitting room for relaxation with colour television, books, music centre and stereo radio.
The unusual and attractive twin bedded room, with the same aspect as the double room, has its own separate entrance from the balcony. A colour television, stereo radio, books etc. are provided.
Both rooms have en-suite shower room etc. and tea and coffee making facilities. The Barn is centrally heated.
A thatched cob wall, which provides shelter for fig, pear and apricot trees, links the barn to the house, where a delicious breakfast of your choice is served in the dining room with its arched windows overlooking the orchard and garden. On chilly mornings a cheerful woodburner makes a cosy dining room. Breakfast includes home~produced apple juice,
soft fruit, preserves and honey from our own bees.
All other ingredients for breakfast come from local producers wherever possible.
Please note: Sadly, due to the nature of the building we are unable to take wheelchair users.
Well behaved dogs welcome
We are a non smoking establishment.
